3 Positions at Makueni County

Makueni County Public Service Board is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act 2012 whose mandate includes appointing persons to hold or act in the offices of County Public Service.

In order to strengthen the capacity of the Public Service, the Board wishes to recruit competent and qualified persons to fill the following positions as per Section 59 of the County Governments’ Act 2012.

OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR

1. Senior Public Communication Officer (1 Post)

Salary: Job Group “L”

Salary Scale: Kshs. 44,400 × 1,920 – 46,320 × 2,000 – 48,320 x 2,290 – 50,610 x 2,350

× 52,960 x 2,550 – 55,510 × 2,850 – 58,360 x 2,750 – 61,110 p.m.

Terms: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail; gathering information on programmes and significant events in a specific sectoral area and the impact on customers, and forwarding the same to the head of a Public Communications Unit for dissemination; assisting in the development of communications and media strategy; editing stories on various topical issues before they are released to the public and liaising with media practitioners and the public on issues of mutual concern. In addition, the officer will be responsible for scheduling interviews with Government officials; managing assigned projects/programmes; and organizing events under the guidance of the head of the Unit/Section.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must:

(i) Must be a Kenyan citizen

(ii) Have a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Journalism, International Relations, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Public Relations or its approved equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;

(iii) Minimum of 6 years’ experience in communication and Public relations field either in the public or private sector;

(iv) possess good oral and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili;

(v) possess advanced computer application skills;

2. Photojournalist Assistant III (1 Post)

Salary: Job Group “H”

Salary Scale: Kshs. 26,900 x 1,110 – 28,010 x 1,120 – 29,130 x 1,150 – 30,280 x

1,170 – 31,450 х 1,250 – 32,700 х 1,300 – 34,000 x 1,380 – 35,380 p.m.

Terms: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities will entail: taking and processing of both still and video photographs and footage; captionwriting; documenting news, information and features through photography; scanning and digitizing photographs and footage.

Requirements for Appointment

Appointment to this grade a candidate must have:-

(i) Diploma in mass communication, Journalism, Communication studies and Public Relations from a recognized institution;

(ii) Certificate of membership to a professional body from a recognized institution; and

(iti) Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution.

3. Receptionist II (1 Post)

Salary: Job Group “J”

Salary Scale: Kshs. 32,700 x 1,300 – 34,000 x 1,380 – 35,380 x 1,390 – 36,770 x 1,460

– 38,230 x 1,470 – 39,700 x 1,470 – 41,170 x 1520 – 42,690 p.m

Terms: Permanent and Pensionable

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities in this level will include; compiling daily records of visitors; providing relevant information to visitors; responding to visitors’ queries and telephone inquiries; recording and confirming visitors’ appointments; recording visitors’ personal details; receiving, guiding and directing visitors to designated offices and areas; issuing visitors passes; and making seating arrangements; tagging VIP seats during official and Government functions; and meaning the VIP lifts.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

(i) Diploma in any of the following fields: – Public Relations and Customer Care, Hospitality Management, Event Designing, Customer Service, Front Office or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;

(ii) Must have 3 years’ relevant public communication and front office management iii) Certificate in computer application skills;
