Facilities Project Manager

Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, not-for-profit, non-denominational international development agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). AKF works in collaboration with partners to develop and promote innovative solutions that help improve the quality of life of communities in areas we work. This is achieved through a systemic and Multi-Input Area Development programming approach that responds to the opportunities and priorities of a given area with long-term and synergised interventions. Specifically in Uganda, AKF currently supports programming in education, early childhood development (ECD) and strengthening civil society.

 

Job Summary:   Aga Khan Education Service, Uganda is currently seeking to recruit a Facilities Project Manager for AKES, Uganda, which operates three schools in Uganda. The Facilities Project Manager (FPM) position is a one-year, fixed-term contract to oversee the design and construction of several facilities projects budgeted for 2024.

 

The FPM will be responsible for tendering, evaluating tenders, selecting design consultants and engineers, selecting contractors, monitoring project construction and certifying project completion. This will be done in conjunction with the regional facilities team and a Board member of AKES, U.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Should posses a Bachelor of Science degrees in Engineering and a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Project Management (Preferably from reputed college)
  • A minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience of which 5 years and more should have managed a team and handled multiple projects

Skills:

  • A proven record in managing small construction projects, should have structural engineering qualification and experience, and understand structural, architectural and MEP drawings.
  • S/he should have an eye for detail, be able to manage contractors to meet project timelines and project cost, and trouble-shoot as necessary.
  • S/he should have strong verbal and written communication skills in English and should be able to use Microsoft Office packages as well as CAD tools.
