DISTRICT CARE & TREAT OFFICER

General Summary

 

The position holder will provide technical assistance to ensure timely and quality attainment and sustenance of HIV epidemic control interventions in supported districts.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design, monitor and report on key activities related to HIV/AIDS/TB treatment scale up.
  • Support mentoring activities for HCWs in relation to HIV/AIDS/TB care and treatment.
  • Support roll out of National HIV treatment guidelines and other related guidelines in HIV/TB care.
  • Provide on call/distance TA support for the handling of complicated HIV/AIDS/TB cases.
  • Support Quality Assurance of HIV/AIDS/TB services at facilities and recommend corrective action.
  • Provide technical assistance in planning related to HIV/AIDS/TB care and treatment
  • Provide team lead roles for the field office technical supervisory teams.
  • Coordinate implementation of all district EMTCT/ EID activities related to the project
  • Provide oversight for the mentorship of project and health facility teams in EMTCT/ EID services in line with MoH policies and procedures.
  • Work with the relevant district personnel to ensure provision of an integrated information package for improving care for HIV positive pregnant and lactating mothers.
  • Support community demand and community based activities for HIV positive pregnant and lactating mothers in the supported areas to improve identification, uptake and retention.
  • Strengthen documentation and records management of pediatric, HIV positive pregnant and lactating mother’s data using appropriate tools and online system.
  • Any other duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time.
  • Adhere to all Institutional Occupational Health, Safety, Environment and Safeguarding (OHSE) policies, procedures, and guidelines and participate in all mandatory activities.

Person Specification

  • At least 2-3 years of HIV/AIDS/TB clinical experience.
  • Experience in providing technical Assistance to large scale HIV HSS interventions within MoH structures and systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS/TB management.
  • Good working knowledge of HIV/AIDS/TB programs, strategies, processes and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results of HIV/AIDS programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Knowledge of USG programming policies and regulations, MoH and district procedures and practices.
