
Senior Accountant
Job Type: Full-time
Job Location: Nairobi
You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with relevant regulations, and providing support for decision-making processes
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review financial statements,
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Ensure reconciliation of customers, suppliers & Bank general ledger accounts weekly, monthly quarterly & annually.
- Assist in the preparation financial reports.
- Oversee and manage the general ledger
- Monitor results against the budget, and report on variances.
- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls
- Supervise junior accountants
- Review and approve work performed by junior staff
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue growth.
- Providing insightful financial data and analysis to management.
- Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification is required. - A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP/IFRS).
- Proficiency in accounting software e.g.SAP, ERP,
Quickbooks e.t. and Microsoft Excel. - Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
