JOB PROFILE
Zena’s vision and story
Who we are:
Zena is founded on the single premise that investing in female entrepreneurs has the power to change the global stories of gender inequality, and extreme poverty. The common two barriers rural female entrepreneurs are facing is access to capital and access to education.
We set out to change that.
What we do:
Our model gives female entrepreneurs, previously living below the poverty line, access to debt free start up capital through short term employment. While on our programme, women are paid a salary for their work in hand crafting our product line. 40% of this salary puts her and her family above the poverty line, while 60% is put aside as savings for her business.
In addition to receiving a salary, women in the Zena programme also participate in a rigorous entrepreneurship training course, learning skills in marketing, budgeting, and management as well as optional literacy and holistic development courses. Upon graduating the Zena programme, women have both the education and the capital necessary to start sustainable, scalable businesses.
Our story:
In the 7 years we have been operational, over 60 Zena women have gone through our programme and between them have pulled over 400 lives out of poverty. We believe that if women are empowered to lead successful economic growth in their own communities, they will drive long lasting and significant social transformation for generations to come.
To strengthen our financial management systems, we are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team. At Zena we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive working environment. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact in the communities we serve, work with a passionate team, and further your professional development within the NGO sector.
We look forward to receiving your application!
