OVERALL, JOB PURPOSE
The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing and dispensing medication according to the prescriptions to ensure safe and effective patient care. This will include collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide clinical expertise on drug therapy and patient safety.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES.
- A Diploma in pharmacy
- Two years of working experience as a pharmacist in a Hospital setting is desirable
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with all the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives.
- Cognitive skills as related to the position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Checking and dispensing medication as per prescription.
- Ensure patient signs prescription and collect charge as required.
- Dispense and record private prescriptions and ensure that the billing terms collect specified charges.
- Receive, record and dispense repeat medication requests.
- Answering telephone calls and passing on messages as appropriate.
- Dealing with problems and enquires.
- Inputting information onto computer.
- Keep dispensary stocked and maintain efficient stock control of both medicines and containers.
- Keep efficient stock.
- Fully observe legal requirements relevant to a dispensing practice, including MOH regulations and controlled drugs.
- Know when to make a referral to a healthcare professional.
- Carrying out any administration as required such as Medical insurance claims, KPI collection data and end month prescription paperwork.
- Being an active member of the pharmacy team that delivers and promotes in store professionals’ services.
- Preparing small scale or individual preparation of special ointments or creams and mixtures.
- Ordering dispensing stock, checking and accepting deliveries and updating the stock control system.
- Ensuring that refrigerated items are stored at the appropriate temperature and maintaining the temperature control record/logbook.
- Clean work surfaces and shelving on a regular basis and ensuring that all dispensary equipment is kept clean and kept in good working order.
- Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions.
- Undertaking other reasonable duties within the frame work of the post as directed by the pharmacist.
- Take orders for repeats and deal with queries form nurses and support staff.
- Know the general principles of first aid and resuscitation to be able to undertake initial actions as appropriate.
- Any other duties will be assigned from time to time.
