THE POSITION
We are recruiting a full-time Veterinary officer who will be in charge of Milk collection and Farmer’s recruitment. Milk Quality and Quantity-Ensure efficient operations in the cooling plants. Develop and implement an up-to-date farmer’s visitation schedule to build rapport and trust with farmers supplying milk to the company.
Develop and coordinate farmers’ training activities. Grow individual farmer’s base supplying milk to the company. Support and resolve milk quality concerns amongst farmers and milk traders. Give advisory to farmers that ensure good animal welfare practices and well-being of their cows. Implement and enforce quality assurance protocols at the assigned cooling plants). Maintain an up-to-date preventive maintenance schedules at the cooling plants.
LOCATION
The position is based in Embu County at Mufu and Kirimiri milk collection center in Runyenjes Town.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science in Animal Health Management or Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine.
- At least 2 years of experience in the same capacity in a dairy farm.
- Valid KVB license.
- Ability to make independent, objective decisions and escalate critical matters where necessary.
- Loves cows.
- Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in animal breeding and nutrition is a plus.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and work independently.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various farm locations.
