For our operations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, we are looking for a Specialty Coffee Trader (f/m/d).
The position will be based in our Nairobi, Kenya office and reports directly to Regional Chief Operations Officer.
Your Responsibilities
Sourcing:
- Identifying and sourcing high quality coffee from various the regions coffee growing regions across East Africa.
Marketing & Market Analysis:
- Monitor and analyse global coffee market trends, including supply and demand, price movements, and geopolitical factors.
- Conduct research on coffee production, weather patterns, and other factors affecting the market.
- Developing and providing buyers with detailed marketing material on the coffees sold.
- Staying abreast with coffee market trends and developments, monitoring supply and demand and identifying new opportunities for growth.
Relationship Building:
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with coffee growers, importers and roasters in various countries and working closely with them to ensure quality standards and fair prices.
Negotiation:
- Negotiating contracts and prices with suppliers and buyers.
Quality Control:
- Ensuring that the quality of coffee sourced meets the required quality standards through the use of sensory analysis, cupping and other standardized industry quality measures.
Logistics
- Actively coordinating the logistics process from transportation, storage and shipping of coffee to various buyers.
Sales:
- Selling specialty coffee to buyers including roasters and importers and working to build long-term relationships with them.
- Executing buy and sale orders in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manage inventory levels and ensure timely delivery or contracts.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Agribusiness or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in coffee trading.
- Deep understanding of the East African coffee industry.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills and a skilled negotiator.
- Prior experience in coffee trading and quality control.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
