In Uganda, De Heus is best known for its brand Koudijs. To extend its business in East Africa, De Heus will start local production of animal feed in Uganda and Kenya.

The new plant in Uganda will produce fish feed for Tilapia farms in East Africa. By joining, you would help kickstart aquaculture and participate in the creation many jobs in fish farms and among our suppliers (farmers of soy, maize, and other agricultural raw materials), improve food security, and substitute import with export.

 

The Production Lead reports to the Plant Manager

Your key responsibilities are:

  • Responsible for the production and planning of daily operations
  • Plans, schedules, and reviews workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met on a cost-effective basis.
  • Manages stock control, and checks that inventory records are accurate
  • Ensures the production team has enough time to manufacture and deliver products based on the client’s request
  • Creates a detailed schedule based on strict deadlines
  • Monitors production standards and production to resolve issues
  • Monitor production KPIs
  • Makes sure the working environment maintains access to quality equipment
  • Follows up on interruptions to the order
  • Organizes, plans, and implements inventory activity and liaise with other managers to formulate objectives and understand their requirements.
  • Organize workflow to meet specifications and deadlines
  • Comply and implement Operational Excellence Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Compile daily production plan and sequencing in order to ensure maximum efficiencies
  • Analyse and drive production asset productivity through KPIs and efficiencies
  • Daily capture, analysis and report of production data.
  • Daily analysis of mill PCS report to optimize production parameters and quality ( dosing variances, downtime etc)
  • Communicate with maintenance with regards to availability of mill for maintenance
  • Do a daily production report
  • A weekly report must be planned against actual
  • A monthly production report including consumption of utilities
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of production personnel ( quality inspectors, workers etc.)
  • Ensure that output meets quality standards and requested volumes
  • Report to upper management
  • Implement and monitor production quality control processes in line with the company requirements
  • Ensure that all Healthy and Safety procedures are met and observed by the team within the production area
  • Daily capture, analyse and report of Production data. Actual KPI’s versus budget and works with Production team to address the areas of non-conformance or concern
  • Daily analysis of Mill PCS report to optimise Production parameters and quality (dosing variances, downtime etc)
  • Communication with Maintenance with regards to availability of mill for maintenance

What do we expect from you?

  • A Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Agriculture related
  • Work experience in Production Management
  • 5 or more years working in a production environment out of which 3 years should have been in a managerial role
  • Strong experience in feed milling machines is preferred
  • ERP knowledge is an added advantage
