Accountant / Bookkeeper

The ideal candidate will be involved with preparing financial reports and statements, bank reconciliations, and conducting cyclical audits. Moreover, the candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and possess a strong business acumen. The bookkeeper will ensure compliance with international accounting standards and local regulations, providing recommendations to enhance financial management procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Create ad-hoc reports for various business needs
  • Develop and maintain monthly cash flow projections, ensuring prudent cash management.
  • Reconcile bank accounts on a monthly basis and submit the reconciliation to the treasurer for review and approval.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and actively participate in subsequent monitoring of expenditures against the approved budget.
  • Process payroll and manage related processes, including monthly PAYE payments, deduction and remittance of statutory and non-statutory deductions.
  • Ensuring HR practices comply with financial regulations and labour laws and reporting these on a monthly basis.
  • Reviewing and updating accounting policies and procedures as and when needed
  • Prepare tax documents
  • Compile and analyze financial statements
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may arise over time based on the evolving needs of the church

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Certified Public Accountant (Part 2) or equivalent
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience in finance and accounting or related field. (Preferably in a Not for profit organization)
  • Ability to interpret and analyze financial statements and periodicals
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • High level of personal and professional integrity with strong analytical skills and ability to function well in a multi-cultural environment
  • Strong communication skill with ability to prepare, present and discuss findings in written and oral form.
