We are currently looking for qualified youth for the Impact Monitoring Officers (IMOs) position, for one of our key projects in Kenya. The IMOs will support our ongoing impact monitoring activities for a period of one year.

Key duties/responsibilities will include collecting and collating quantitative and qualitative data (conducting surveys, in-depth, key informant and focus group interviews) with select project transcription, data entry, ensuring data integrity and quality, and report writing.

Educational Qualifications:

• Minimum bachelor’s in Social Sciences, Economics, Development Studies, Statistics, Mathematics, Education, Monitoring and Evaluation, or any other related discipline.

• Or: Advanced degree, specialized training, or experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E), Impact Assessment, or related areas. Professional Experience:

• 1+ years of demonstrated experience in data collection for programmatic evaluations or research studies, including hands-on involvement in monitoring, evaluation, and data collection activities for development programs.

• Field Experience: Proven experience in field data collection, especially in rural and urban settings, including face-to-face and telephonic interviews.

Technical Skills:

  • Data Collection Tools Proficiency: Experience with digital data collection tools such as ODK, SurveyCTO, Survey ToGo, CommCare, or similar platforms is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite and strong technology skills – using laptops and tablets and recording GPS coordinates, among others.

  • Ethics and Integrity: Commitment to maintaining ethical standards, including obtaining informed consent and ensuring participant confidentiality.

Additional Requirements:

  •  Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and the local languages spoken in the specific country of operation.
  • Mobility Willingness and ability to travel extensively domestically and internationally, including remote areas, to conduct interviews and collect data.
  • Training Capability: Ability to participate in and contribute to periodic data collection training sessions, including pilot to test and data collection tools to enhance data collection and monitoring skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently as well as with a team.

Duties and Responsibilities (Quantitative):

  • Conduct Interviews: Conduct initial and follow-up interviews with youth-in-work and enterprises per the sampling plan.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Adhere to the study’s data quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data collected.
  • Data Management: Properly manage and upload collected data into the CommCare platform or other specified systems.
  • Report: Assist in preparing periodic field reports and data collection activities.

Duties and Responsibilities (Qualitative):

  • Conduct Interviews:
  • Conduct key informant interviews as per the protocol.
  • Conduct focus group discussions (FGD) with key populations as per the protocol.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Properly document the interviews and FGDs.
  • Data Management:
  • Review transcripts of FGDs and Interviews and check for accuracy.
  • Collect and manage data files, including interview and focus group transcripts, as per the protocol; transcribe and clean interviews promptly.
  • Report: Assist in preparing periodic field reports and data collection activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • This position will be based in selected districts or regions nationwide.
  • Willingness to travel within the district, including weekends.
