Associate Cost Engineer

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Associate Cost Engineer

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports To: Business Support Lead
Department: Wells

Principal Accountabilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):

  • Actively contribute to the company’s HSE programs and systems.
  • Promote and ensure compliance with the SHIC system and HSSE-MS manual.

Procurement Support:

  • Raise Call-Off Requisitions and Purchase Requisitions aligned with approved contracts and company policies for timely issuance of Purchase Orders.

Work Completion Documentation:

  • Prepare Manual Work Completion Certificates (WCCs) and Value of Work Done (VOWD) for internal reviews and approvals.
  • Prepare Electronic Work Completion Certificates (EWCCs) for submission and necessary endorsements.

Cost Monitoring & Analysis:

  • Analyze cost data, comparing estimates with actuals to determine cost variances.
  • Recommend and initiate supplementary POs or EWCCs where required.

Operational Readiness:

  • Support the Well Operations Team by ensuring all Purchase Orders for assigned wells are complete and approved prior to service vendor mobilization.

Materials Requisitioning:

  • Raise Pick Tickets and Material Requisition Forms for the utilization of stock items from Seplat’s warehouse.

Budget Tracking:

  • Prepare and process Budget Certification Forms (BCFs) for necessary approvals and budgetary compliance.

Cost Validation:

  • Validate cost inputs from various internal and external sources to ensure consistency with approved contracts.

Cost Records Maintenance:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate historical cost data to support trend analysis and the development of future cost estimates.

  • Immediate Supervisor: Line: Business Support Lead, Function: Technical
  • Other Jobs Reporting to Same Supervisor: None
  • Immediate Subordinates: None

Key Relationships:
Internal Contacts:

  • Well Operations Team, SCM (Supply Chain Management), EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) Team, Well Services Team, Assets, Production, HSE, Logistics, and Finance Departments.

External Contacts:

  • Contractors and Service Companies — for cost validation, invoicing, and work completion coordination.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • B.Sc or HND in Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in a cost control, procurement, or project support role, preferably within the oil & gas industry.
  • Familiarity with work order systems, procurement procedures, and industry-standard cost tracking tools.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Solid understanding of cost control processes and budgeting principles.
  • Ability to work with ERP and procurement systems (e.g., SAP).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
  • Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
