Job Title: Legal Officer

Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • To ensure that the Executive Management, Board and Board Committee members of CSCS receives legal advisory and secretariat support necessary to discharge their duties
  • Support the monitoring of follow up action taken after the meetings, and maintains a rolling agenda
  • Maintain Board and Board Committee records including papers, minutes, the indices of reports considered and of delegated authorities
  • Prepare and update CSCS regulatory and compliance matrix taking cognizance of requirements for carrying on business as a registered Company and a licensed Central Securities Depository.
  • Maintain minutes of Board and Board Committees & Management meetings, Agreements & contracts in physical & electronic files and constantly update documents tracking register online to ensure zero tolerance of loss/misplacement of these materials.
  • Direct, manage and monitor the Company’s portfolio of law suits within the agreed stipulated period
  • Assist in the organisation of annual and extraordinary general meetings
  • Develop and maintain good relations and contact with key executives and managers who provide reports to the Boards/Committees
  • Prepare and submit all statutory & legal regulatory filings within stipulated timeframe to ensure 100% compliance on regulatory matters and avoidance of sanctions and fines resulting from late filings
  • Carry out all official assignments delegated by the Head of Legal and for which the Department is responsible to the Board, Board Committees and Management Committees in line with agreed delivery timeline and expectations tied to these assignments

Requirements

  • Minimum of First Degree in Law and bachelor’s in law from the Nigerian Law School
  • 1+ years of LLB experience as a Legal Practitioner or Company Secretary in a bank, reputable investment firm or any other related industry
