Assistant Accountant

The New Vision Printing and Publishing Company Ltd is looking to recruit a dynamic and self motivated individual to fill the position of Assistant Accountant.

Position: Assistant Accountant

Reports to: Senior Accountant

Duty Station: Soroti

Description of purpose:

To handle all finance related tasks at the bureau with a high degree of integrity and ensure safe custody of company resources

Key Result Areas:

  • To Safeguard company money by ensuring that money is banked intact and timely as per set guidelines.
  • Receive and receipt cash and cheques drafts from clients to recognize revenue, reduce indebtedness by clients and account for all collections.
  • Timely submission of documents to ensure financial records are updated
  • Pay out petty cash/ imprest for vouchers that are authorized in order to facilitate staff at the bureau to do their work and buy office material.
  • Issue orders for walk in clients in the absence of sales executives; receipt the payments and type out the advert.
  • Issue tax invoices to clients who bring in business e.g. announcements, adverts, talk shows in order to facilitate timely payments by the clients.
  • Monitor asset movement in the bureau in order to keep track of office assets and keep record of the operational status or condition of the assets.
  • Timely resolution and satisfactory responses to audit queries, Full implementation of the risk mitigation measures.
  • Timely submission of reports about publishing sales.
  • Project a good company image that encourages repeat business.
  • Manage customer inquiries and resolve queries in a timely manner.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Education and Professional Qualifications:

  • A Bachelors degree in Business Studies, Finance and Accountant from a recognized University.
  • At least CPA Level 2 is required
  • 3 – 4 years work experience in a busy environment.
  • Administration competencies are an added advantage.

Working Experience:

• 3 – 4 years work experience in a busy environment.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Technical Competences:

i Computer literate with sound knowledge of Ms. Word, Excel and any accounting package.

ii. Good analytical skills.

iii.Ability to multi task and deliver in a tight deadline driven environment.
