Job Description
- Gather and analyze information from the industry to help benchmark best practices as well as process performance
- Ensure process compliance from POL up till arrival at POD in import processes.
- Work with Finance and commercial teams to provide high levels of customer service.
- Manage correspondence with clients to effectively maintain harmonious business relationship.
- Address any prevailing import issues in a professional and timely manner
- Coordinate, supervise and coach team on excellent service delivery
- Ensure consistent process review and improvement as required
- Attend to petition, queries and or invitation from various authorities – Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian police force, Economic and financial crime commission (EFCC), etc.
- Represent the organization at stakeholders’ meetings with the Nigerian Customs Service on importation procedures and regulations and unclaimed containers in the port, etc.
- Manage correspondence with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth process flow.
- Verify original bills of lading alongside supporting documents prior release. Scrutinize customs and other documents presented in the import process
- Proactively address any issues that may arise within the import process that will affect the customers negatively.
Requirements
- First Degree in Maritime, Shipping, or related disciplines
- Good command of written and spoken in English
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft office, including Excel, Word, Power Point, Web-based and email programs.
- Between 8-10 years prior experience in similar capacity.
- Strong relationship management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
