
Job Title: Agroforestry Specialist
Position Overview. The Agroforestry Specialist will guide and support Latek Stay Alliance Uganda’s implementing partners in designing, testing and scaling the sustainable agroforestry project.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with implementing partners, institutions, government agencies, and private sector actors to promote and sustain the sustainable agroforestry interventions in the target communities.
Work closely and support partners to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate sustainable agroforestry interventions, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
Provide expert guidance on sustainable agroforestry practices that are resilient to climate change, adaptable to local conditions, and applicable in the target project districts.
Oversee the planning and execution of activities for partners and project beneficiaries, while offering technical advice to ensure the successful rollout.
Ensure sustainable agroforestry interventions are timely integrated into Latek’s overall programming and planning processes and effectively delivered to project beneficiaries.
Evaluate the participation capacity of partners and farmers in the target areas in sustainable agroforestry initiatives and propose tailored measures, designs, and interventions.
Ensure quality and timely periodic and ad-hoc reports on sustainable agroforestry intervention activities, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project objectives.
Research sustainable agroforestry crops, varieties, techniques, innovations and collaborate with research centres and specialists in the sustainable agroforestry space.
Minimum requirements
University Degree in Agroforestry, Forestry, or sustainable agriculture or related area. Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field are an added advantage
At least five years of relevant experience in Agro-forestry or related field
Proven ability to guide and support partners in implementing medium to large scale projects.
Experience working with smallholder farmers and rural communities in Uganda.
Skills
Deep understanding of intercropping, carbon sequestration, and agroforestry practices.
Strong training, facilitation, and capacity-building skills.
Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation frameworks and tools.
Excellent communication, coordination, and analytical skills.
