Job Summary
To assist the optometrist and ophthalmologist in preparing lenses according to patients prescription.
Responsibilities
- Accurately reading and understanding the details of a patients eye prescription to ensure correct lens power and specifications
- Using the machine to cut, grind and polish lenses to the precise dimensions required
- Selecting the appropriate frame size and style and adjusting the frame to ensure proper fit
- Preforming minor repairs on frames
- Maintain stock of lenses, frames and accessories to ensure availability for customer needs
- Stay updated with industry best practices and maintain compliance with regulatory standards, ensuring high-quality, and ethical care
Qualifications
- Have been trained as an optical workshop attendant from an accredited institution
- KCSE certificate with minimum of C minus
- Have at least 2 years’ experience
