Revenue Controller

Swissport is recruiting for the position of Revenue Controller based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring revenue integrity in cargo handling by monitoring transactions, identifying risks, and improving control measures.

Purpose of the Role

Regularly review the company’s cargo handling financial transactions, contracts and business practices with the aim of controlling and reporting on all revenues whilst maintaining related operational data. In addition to provide guidance for improvement, identify revenue control risk and help develop and implement revenue control plans. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the revenue control plans.

Primary Tasks

  • Design and maintain an effective revenue reporting system.
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of departmental systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
  • Establish and document internal control procedures for revenue collection and accounting.
  • Plan and carry out regular audits to ensure that established internal control procedures are maintained.
  • Reconcile daily/monthly revenues to cargo handling activities and provide an analysis to Management on any deviations.
  • Monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and opportunities are capitalised upon.
  • Maintain a record of daily handled tonnages of cargo by customer and business stream.
  • Supervise the sales invoicing process in cargo handling and ensure accurate and timely billing in line with agreed upon rates.
  • Ensure that regular billing patterns, and where possible monthly billing cycles, are established, taking care that any special billing arrangements are observed.
  • Preparation of management reports, applying advanced Excel/Power BI functionality as necessary, to provide Management with timely and relevant information.
  • Maintain debtors’ ledger and perform related credit control functions.
  • Ensure prompt collection of debtors in line with agreed credit terms.
  • Maintain and update customer files and ensure validity of applicable rates and terms of payment.
  • Ensure any collections done are banked and posted to cash book and daily reports generated to Chief Financial Officer
  • Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.
  • Participate in the budgeting and business planning process for Cargo Handling.
  • Interact with a wide range of stakeholders at different levels, requiring an awareness of own impact on others and an adjustment of behaviour accordingly.
  • Deal with queries and provide advice and assistance to various stakeholders and associates as and where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant management procedures and controls across the cargo handling product to guarantee legislative compliance and delivery of high-quality service.

Job Specification

Education: Business Degree (Accounting/Finance) or equivalent

Professional Qualification & Experience

  • 3 years relevant working experience
