
Femme Forte Uganda is a feminist organization committed to advancing gender
justice, equity, and the empowerment of women and marginalized groups in Uganda.
As the organization transitions into a new leadership phase, we seek a bold, dynamic
and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to steer Femme Forte Uganda toward its
strategic goals and beyond.
About the Role
The Chief Steward (CEO) will provide overall strategic leadership, direction, and
management to Femme Forte Uganda, ensuring the effective implementation of
programs, sustainability of the organization, and advocacy for gender justice. This is
a unique opportunity for a strategic leader, movement builder, and change-maker to
shape the next chapter of Femme Forte Uganda’s work, strengthen its influence in
feminist movements, and ensure long-term organizational sustainability.
The Chief Steward (CEO) will work closely with the Advisory Board, staff, partners,
and stakeholders to fulfill the mission of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Steward (CEO) will be responsible for:
• Driving Strategic Leadership & Organizational Growth: Leading the
development and execution of Femme Forte Uganda’s strategic plan, ensuring
alignment with its vision and mission.
• Effective Planning: Ability to effectively plan at a strategic level and offer direction
to the team to carry it out.
• Advancing Advocacy & Movement Building: Lead policy engagement, feminist
advocacy efforts, and strategic partnerships with local, regional, and international
stakeholders
• Program Development & Implementation: Overseeing the design, execution, and
evaluation of programs that advance gender equality and social justice.
• Partnerships & Advocacy: Building and maintaining relationships with
local, regional, and international stakeholders, including donors, civil society
organizations, government agencies, and feminist movements.
• Business strategy and development: Identifying and pursuing strategic
opportunities for growth, diversification of revenue streams, and strengthening
Femme Forte Uganda’s market presence and sustainability.
• Overseeing Financial Sustainability & Resource Mobilization: Ensuring the
financial sustainability of the organization by mobilizing resources, overseeing
fundraising strategies, implementing innovative revenue generation models and
managing budgets effectively.
• Organizational Management & Development: Strengthening internal structures,
policies, and staff capacities to foster a high-performance and inclusive work
environment.
• Communications & Public Engagement: Representing Femme Forte Uganda
in public forums, media engagements, and advocacy spaces to amplify the
organization’s work and impact.
• Strengthening Governance & Institutional Development: Work with the
Board to implement governance best practices and ensure strong accountability
mechanisms.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate should have:
• At least 7 years of management and leadership experience, preferably in
feminist organizations, civil society, human rights advocacy or movement building
organizations.
• At least 7 years of experience as a supervisor of multiple staff members
• A master’s degree in Gender Studies, Human Rights, Development Studies,
Business Administration, or equivalent experience in management and/or director
positions within non-profit organizations, social enterprises and/or development
organizations.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, business development,
organizational management, and governance.
• Proven expertise in strategic leadership, governance, resource mobilization, and
financial management within non-profit or advocacy organisations
• Strong advocacy, policy engagement, and partnership-building skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking abilities.
• Commitment to feminist principles, social justice, and gender equality.
• Good inter-personal and relational skills.
