Credit Controller

Job Summary: The Credit Controller will be responsible for managing the credit and
collections process within the company. This role will ensure the timely collection of
premiums, monitor outstanding balances, and implement credit control procedures. The
Credit Controller will collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as underwriters and
Business Development personnel, agents, and maintain positive relationships with clients to
ensure efficient cash flow and minimize credit risks.

Responsibilities and Duties:
• Monitor and manage the credit control process, including reviewing credit
applications
• Monitor outstanding premiums and follow up with clients to ensure timely payment.
• Implement and enforce credit control procedures to minimize credit risk and bad
debt exposure.
• Collaborate with underwriters and agents to resolve premium payment issues and
address client inquiries or concerns.
• Conduct credit assessments on new and existing clients to evaluate creditworthiness
and determine appropriate credit terms.
• Prepare and distribute client statements and reminders for outstanding balances.
• Negotiate payment plans with delinquent clients and monitor their adherence to
agreed-upon terms.
• Maintain accurate records of credit control activities, payment history, and
communication with clients.
• Coordinate with the accounting team to reconcile accounts and resolve any
discrepancies or issues.
• Provide regular reports on outstanding balances, credit control performance, and
aging analysis.
• Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to credit
control and collections.
• Assist in developing and implementing strategies to improve cash flow and reduce
credit risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as finance, underwriting, and
operations, to ensure alignment and effective credit control processes.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients and provide excellent customer service
regarding credit-related inquiries or issues.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Personal Attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar credit control role, preferably
in the insurance industry or financial services sector.
• Understanding of insurance industry regulations and compliance related to premium
billing and credit control.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle a high volume of transactions.
• Strong knowledge of credit control principles, credit assessment, and collections
practices.
• Familiarity with insurance premium billing and collection processes is a plus.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with clients and internal
stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in financial calculations and data entry.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Excel for data analysis and
reporting.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
