Baptist Union of Uganda (BUU) a faith based organization that brings together all Baptist Churches in Uganda has a strong partnership with Compassion International- Uganda in child ministry through sponsorship and home based care. BUU seeks to recruit competent persons to fill the positions:

  1. Project Director

Vacancies: 3

Station: Emin Baptist Church Kwania District, Ki-kyo Baptist Church Kasese District & Ebenezer Baptist Church Zombo District.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • The project Director shall be the staff team leader ensures high impact programming for the holistic development of children offering technical guidance to children, project committee, the church, parents and fellow project workers,
  • He/she ensures that all programmatic financial and sponsor services are efficient and effective.
  • He/she is the accounting officer for all Project funds, ensuring that all funds are used for their intended purpose and in accordance with to the set policies.
  • Ensures effective implementation of approved project plans & budgets with prompt and accurate monthly  reports
  • Submits monthly reports to the Overseer, the Child Development Committee and other Partners as required

Requirements

  • Must be a mature born again Christian with proven integrity and passion for child ministry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3 year-experience working with children
  • Must have computer, project and finance management skills.

2. Child Development Officer (Sponsor Relations)

Vacancies: 3

Station: Emin Baptist Church, Kwania District, Kikyo Baptist Church Kasese District and Ebenezer Baptist Church Zombo District.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as an advocate for children and their caregivers who live in poverty and are not able to speak out for themselves.
  • Implements the day to day project SDR activities to achieve the sponsor child relationship outcomes.
  • Initiates annual plans & schedules for Child correspondence, updates, departures, registration & other

Key Result areas.

  • Coordinates all planned sponsor visits, ensures proper documentation and record keeping of all SDR related issues.
  • Responsible for the social emotional development, involving acting as a resource person for life skills training, empowering caregivers in positive parenting and communicating to the project management, caregivers and children.
  • Exhibit a high level of financial stewardship and demonstrate proper funds usage, accountability and reporting
  • Support in the generation and implementation of the annual PPBF (Partner Planning & Budgeting Form).
  • Prepares and submits SDR related reports to the Project Director and church leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be a mature born again Christian with a sound testimony.
  • Degree in Social work, Social sciences, Education, Communication, or related discipline
  • Good written communication, interpersonal, organizational and computer skills are a must.
  • Counseling and child development training will be an added advantage.
  • Age: 25-35

3. Child Development Officer- Health

Vacancies: 3

Station: Emin Baptist Church Kwania District, Kikyo Baptist Church Kasese District and Ebenezer Baptist Church Zombo District:

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • An advocate for children and their caregivers who live in poverty and are not able to speak out for themselves.
  • Implements the day-to-day child health activities to achieve physical development outcomes.
  • Generate annual child health work plans and executes implementation with emphasis on prevention of diseases.
  • Coordinates health screening for project children and Child Survival Program mothers.
  • Coordinates medical care and distribution of provisions to the identified beneficiaries.
  • Ensures accurate documentation and record keeping of all health related issues with utmost confidentiality.
  • Responsible for the physical, cognitive and economic development of the sponsored children.
  • Plans and coordinates health related education and communicates to the project management, caregivers and children.
  • Acts as consultant on all health issues that affect children and the community by using his or her experience and expertise to challenge, motivate, sensitize and equip the church on ways of preventing diseases, immunization of children, celebration of health days as well as dealing with epidemics

Requirements

  • Must be a mature born again Christian with a sound testimony.
  • Must have a professional background in any of Nursing, primary healthcare, community health, clinical medicine, social work administration.
  • Minimum qualification a diploma or its equivalent. Certificate in nursing may be considered.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Current knowledge of HIV/AIDS interventions & formal training in counseling and child development will be an added Advantage.
  • Must have computer skills, good written and verbal communication skills. • Age: 22-35.
