Job Summary
- The Grants and Compliance Advisor will play a critical role in overseeing the effective management of grants and ensuring compliance with donor regulations and Nuru Nigeria’s policies.
- The position will focus on managing the lifecycle of grants, ensuring accurate reporting, supporting staff on compliance matters, and identifying areas for improvement in financial and operational systems to maintain organizational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and support the grant application, award, implementation, and reporting processes.

- Ensure that grant agreements are properly documented, and all deliverables and milestones are met on time.
- Coordinate with project teams to ensure that financial and programmatic goals are being achieved as outlined in grant agreements.
- Monitor and track grant spending to ensure it is in compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Provide technical guidance on donor compliance requirements and ensure all activities align with donor terms and conditions.
- Review program activities and financial reports to ensure adherence to donor regulations.
- Develop and update compliance manuals and training materials for staff on compliance requirements.
- Conduct regular internal compliance checks and audits to identify areas of risk.
- Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial and narrative reports to donors, in line with grant requirements.
- Support the preparation of proposals and ensure they adhere to donor compliance guidelines.
- Ensure that all necessary documentation is in place for audit and compliance reviews.
- Providetraining and support to staff on compliance-related issues, including financial management, reporting standards, and internal controls.
- Foster a culture of compliance across Nuru Nigeria by promoting best practices.
- Assist in the design and implementation of internal controls to ensure proper management of donor funds.
- Identify and address any compliance risks, fraud risks, or discrepancies related to grants and donor funding.
- Work with the finance team to ensure timely reconciliations of donor-funded projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for donors on compliance-related matters.
- Ensure that donor requirements are met and build a positive relationship with donors through clear communication and transparency.
- Stay updated on new donor regulations, policies, and best practices in grants management and compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in grants management and compliance, preferably in the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience working with international donors and understanding their compliance requirements.
- Professional certification (ICAN,ANAN)
- Strong knowledge of grants management processes, including proposal writing, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with donor regulations and compliance requirements, including those of USAID, UN, GIZ agencies, and other international donors.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ability to interpret financial reports and provide actionable insights to program teams.
- Excellent analytical skills to assess compliance risks and develop effective strategies to address them.
- Ability to think critically and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with donors, partners, and internal teams.
- High level of attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and compliance documentation.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality in all aspects of grants management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and grant management software.
- Familiarity with data management and reporting tools is an advantage.
- Strong commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical conduct in grants management.
- Understanding of and dedication to safeguarding vulnerable populations.
