
Job Title: Occupational Health, Safety, and Quality Officer

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Occupational Health, Safety, and Quality (OHSQ) Officer to oversee our health and safety programs and ensure quality standards in the industrial sector with a focus on electrical and mechanical scopes. This role is crucial for maintaining our commitment to safe and efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce OHS policies and programs.
- Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
- Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation.
- Initiate and organize OHS training of employees and executives.
- Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
- Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g., not using protective equipment).
- Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances, etc.
- Record and investigate incidents to determine causes.
- Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information to upper management.
Educational Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational health and safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
Certifications:
- Certified by DOSHS, IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent.
- First Aid and CPR certified.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in an HSEQ role, with specific expertise within the electrical/mechanical scope in an industrial environment.
Required Skills:
Strong Communication Skills: Able to effectively interface with all levels of the organization.
Analytical Skills: Proficient at assessing complex environments and deducing risks.
Attention to Detail: Essential for identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
Regulatory Knowledge: Extensive understanding of Kenyan safety regulations, compliance requirements, and standards.
