Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Uganda is part of the LWF World Service and we are currently supporting Congolese and South-Sudanese refugees living in settlements in the districts of Kamwenge, Adjumani, Moyo, Kyangwali and Lamwo respectively.
Job Summary: Under the guidance of the Project Officer, the Project Assistant (Reception centre) is responsible for the day-to-day general implementation of activities and management of the reception centre.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Implementation
- Assist the project officer in identifying protection cases and promote active participation of beneficiaries and intermediaries in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project activities.
- In collaboration with the project officer, provide guidance to casual workers and reception leadership structures to report cases/issues that may arise.
- Conduct screening for common mental health disorders and other psychological related problems and Provides Basic psychosocial support for individuals identified with these challenges.
- Conduct BIAs for children at risk, separated children, unaccompanied minores and prepare Note for file for the cases as a basis for comprehensive case management for the receiving settlement.
- Facilitate case identification, assessment and documentation of GBV cases including those that occurred in the country of origin, transit and at the reception centre.
- Support in identification and monitoring of WASH gaps and timely report to the WASH officer/engineer to be addressed.
- Liaise with the project officers, to facilitate legal representation, and case follow-ups.
- Using participatory methods, identifies and engages key stake holders in promoting active community participation in the management of the reception centre.
- Collect and tabulate data in conjunction with OPM and a regular basis and undertake participatory approaches for all beneficiaries.
- Ensure Adherence to the principle of confidentiality and dignity.
- Ensure that weekly reports and monthly reports are submitted to the responsible officer within the specified time.
Project Planning
- Ensure that all activities have approved work plan.
- Ensure that all work plan is submitted to the Project Officer in time.
Staff Management
- In collaboration with the settlements officer, ensure that all casual workers comply with LWF code of conduct and the child protection policy and report any issues that needs intervention from senior management.
Financial management / Budget Monitoring & Control
- Ensure correct documentation e.g. Attendance list, Distribution list, beneficiaries list and ensure proper filing of project documents.
- With support from the project officer, keep truck of the activity budget, raise budget notes and concept notes for effective activity implementation.
Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- On daily basis, keep track of where project activities are under taken, check on progress and verify existing caseloads needs, document challenges on deliveries and utilizations of protection inputs in line with project objectives.
- Develop project monitoring plans to ensure that project activities are implemented as per the expectation.
Other
- Undertake other related duties as may reasonably be assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University Degree in Gender and Women Studies, Social work, Social Sciences, community psychology, Development studies or other relevant field of study.
- At least 2 years’ experience in Project Management/Community Development programming
- Proven knowledge and experience in reception centre management.
- Ability to ride motorcycle with a Valid riding permit is a MUST.
