Job Overview

The Financial Inclusion Manager will oversee SHOFCO’s financial inclusion initiatives, with a particular focus on youth-related programs under the SHOFCO Fund. This role involves strategic leadership, program alignment, and fostering partnerships to drive sustainable financial growth and empowerment for underserved communities. The Manager will work collaboratively across teams to ensure program goals are achieved, with a strong emphasis on monitoring, reporting, and resource mobilization.

 

Location – Nairobi

Reports to – Program Director

Travel Required – When advised or necessary

Terms – 2-year contract, renewable on performance

Work Pattern/Hours – Monday – Friday | 8.00 AM – 5.00PM

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Overall project management lead accountable for YVE deliverables of the SACCO.
  • Act as the primary bridge between SHOFCO’s Youth Voice and Sacco’s microcredit team, ensuring that youth-focused initiatives are fully aligned with Sacco and SHOFCO’s overarching objectives.
  • Lead and manage youth-related programs under the SHOFCO Fund, emphasizing sustainable financial growth and empowerment for young people.
  • Oversee and implement social intervention initiatives targeting youth financial inclusion and empowerment.
  • Design and execute programs that address financial challenges and promote economic independence among youth.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive reports for donors, ensuring transparency and alignment with the objectives of other funding bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors to secure ongoing support for financial inclusion programs.
  • Ensure the effective delivery and high quality of Financial Literacy and Capacity (FLC) programs.
  • Customize FLC initiatives to meet the specific needs of youth beneficiaries under the SHOFCO Fund.
  • Collaborate closely with Sacco’s microcredit department to secure necessary resources and support for the implementation of youth programs.
  • Work in tandem with SHOFCO’s Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team to assess the success and impact of youth-focused interventions.
  • Broaden the scope of responsibilities to oversee all SHOFCO financial inclusion initiatives, ensuring cohesive strategies and impactful outcomes.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to improve access to finance for underserved communities.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions to define the direction and priorities of financial inclusion efforts.
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives aimed at increasing financial access and empowerment for youth.
  • Ensure all financial inclusion programs comply with relevant regulations and SHOFCO Sacco’s policies.
  • Stay updated with best practices in financial inclusion and incorporate them into SHOFCO’s programs.

Education Qualifications

Essential Skills:

  • A person of integrity, a team player with effective communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with good commercial judgment and the ability to identify economic opportunities in changing environments and capitalize on them.
  • Conversant with current trends in consumer banking with a strong commercial orientation.
  • Customer-focused – striking a solid balance between external and internal customer orientation.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and team management skills.
  • Passion for community empowerment and creating meaningful change through financial solutions.

Qualification and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial inclusion, youth empowerment, or microcredit programs.
  • Demonstrated success in managing donor-funded projects and engaging with stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent reporting and documentation abilities.
  • Superior collaboration and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Innovative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams towards common goals.
