Main Duties
- Maintenance Management
- Oversee the maintenance of mechanical equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Equipment Installation and Commissioning
- Supervise the installation and commissioning of new mechanical systems and machinery.
- Ensure all equipment is installed correctly and operates efficiently.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs
- Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to repair and restore equipment functionality.
- Quality Control
- Ensure all mechanical components and systems meet quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and tests to verify compliance.
- Project Management
- Manage mechanical projects, including upgrades and new installations.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all mechanical operations comply with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Implement safety protocols and conduct risk assessments.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and project progress.
- Maintenance Management
- Attend all reported plant emergencies or breakdowns on time with minimal supervision.
- Diagnose and promptly repair operational equipment to ensure maximum plant availability.
- Ensure all scheduled shutdown tasks, including safety and services, are executed as planned.
- Handle all emergency mechanical breakdown repairs across the plant promptly.
- Operational Planning and Budgeting
- Develop and implement the annual operating plan and budget for the mechanical section.
- Ensure reliable distribution of compressed air and water to maintain equipment serviceability.
Minimum Requirements (Qualifications)

- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD or SolidWorks).
- Knowledge of mechanical systems and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
- Registration with the Engineers Registration Board or Institute of Engineers Tanzania.
