Job Summary

To drive revenue growth and expanding market share for Absa Bancassurance within the insurance industry through building and maintaining profitable client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and implementing effective strategies to achieve organizational goals.

Job Description

Key accountabilities/Deliverables/Outcomes

Business Growth

  • Achieve a revenue set target split (BB Commercial and CIB)
  • Drive insurance engagement and penetration in the Business Channels through regular client and coverage team engagement.
  • Drive an optimal product mix between Life and Non-Life for holistic solutioning of customer needs.
  • Positioning insurance solutions alongside bank wide initiatives.
  • Bank insurance management.
  • Bank Insurances:
  • Tendering and placement of bank insurances through sourcing and commercial services teams.
  • Conducting market survey and customer value propositions that mitigate the bank risk exposure and presenting the same to the stakeholders.
  • Responsible for stakeholders’ education and awareness creation on the bank policies coverage through quarterly workshops.
  • Regular engagement with the insurers to address coverage gaps and propose solutions to the relevant business heads.
  • Managing bank policies renewal approval and processing
  • Work with marketing for improved visibility and sustained product awareness to drive sales
  • Sustained insurance awareness within the network.

Management of Bank’s Insurance Program

  • Advisory and Risk Analysis of Bank’s Insurances.
  • Review and re-design of cover structures.
  • Commercial analysis and recommendations.

People Management

  • Leadership and team collaboration.
  • Capacity building.

Processes and Compliance

  • Adherence to processes and compliance to Absa policies.

Role/person specification

Qualification

  • A Business-related Degree from a recognized university
  • Diploma in Insurance (CII/AIIK)

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of insurance business, products, and processes. Minimum 10 years insurance experience in Insurance business development and relationship management. 3 Years in Leadership position
  • Experience of managing activity across the whole of a project lifecycle, using current technology, structured methods, and a quality process
  • Exposure to governance, control and risk management
  • Proven ability to effectively work across teams
  • Ability to effectively work across teams

Knowledge And Skills

  • Knowledge of market trends and competitive landscapes
  • Lead generation, prospecting and closing deals
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proficiency in conducting market research analyzing industry trends
