Job Purpose Statement
The role requires an associate who will ensure that all cases have been filed in small claims court on time and provide proper and proactive management of all small claims by ensuring prompt settlement at optimal cost to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction and cost-cutting for the Company.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing all documents required to file cases, including briefs and other court documents
- Writing and reviewing legal documents such as Statement of claims, witness statements, appeals etc
- Managing small claim court cases and determining whether the company should proceed with the suits.
- Working closely with team members to prepare a comprehensive brief on each case that goes to trial and representing the company.
- Scheduling and conducting depositions of witnesses.
- Researching legal concepts, case law, judicial opinions, statutes and regulations
- Maintaining accurate case files, notes and reports
- Provide legal advice and opinions
- Settling disputes and supervising any agreement
- Negotiating cases directly with third-party advocates, where liability is confirmed
- Working closely with Auctioneers to recover based on decrees. Prevention of losses and safeguarding of the Company’s reputation by avoiding adverse actions by auctioneers and other related enforcement actions
- Making sure all parties are carrying out their court order sentence and paying the necessary fines
- Assist in the processing of payments to service providers and ensuring prompt payment
- Manage and organize legal files, including maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
- Regularly report the status of all cases
- Ensuring the Company operates within the laid down regulations and guidelines as far as claims are concerned.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Key Skills And Experience Required
- Must be computer literate with a firm grip on MS Word and Excel
- 6 Months – 2 years experience in handling cases in small claims court
- A team player willing to learn, adapt, and work with minimum supervision
- Excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills
- High levels of energy and enthusiasm and ability to work long hours and under pressure
- High level of analytical skills
- High integrity
- Good skills in analyzing cases and making sound cost-effective judgments

- Undergraduate in a Social Science related course or Bachelors in Law (LLB)
