The LWF Uganda Program is looking for qualified and experienced persons to fill the following position;
Job Title: WASH Technician
Reports To: WASH Officer
Starting date: ASAP
Deadline: Dec 11, 2024
Job Summary: Under the guidance of the WASH officer, the Water Technician is responsible for Operation and maintenance of water supply systems, hand pumps functionality, monitoring water quality, supervising pump operators including listening to their needs, conducting preventive maintenance and report any water related challenges to WASH officer.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervision of WASH related constructions (motorization, water storage reservoir tank, borehole drilling and rehabilitation pump testing).
Conduct regular field monitoring and assessments for all water pump stations, hand pumps and tap stand and report timely to the supervisor.
Dismantle and re-Install water supply system components such as pumps, motors, inverters, chlorinators, and solar panels, cables when needs arises.
Timely and effectively respond to water system break downs to ensure reliability of water supply to the communities served.
Keep track of basic water supply stock levels (fittings and accessories) items of request, usage and reporting against them.
Ensure safety and cleanliness of pump stations and reservoirs with its premises on a routine basis.
Ensure Water supply related databases are update routinely
Mentor or coach pump operators in water system operation and maintenance guidelines
Engage with the local leaders and water users to ensure ownership of their tap stands and handpumps as well institutions.
Represent LWF during WASH settlement coordination meetings and any other stakeholder engagements as you be required.
Provide periodic quality reports regarding water supply and the sector.
Ensure Chlorination of all water supplied and routinely monitor the FRC as well provide reports.
Regular monitoring of the water systems functionality.
Ensure and adhere to pump station generators fuel request, documentation and monitoring usage as required.
Undertake any other related tasks, or other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Education, Qualifications & Experience Required:
BSc, Engineering, preferable to be Civil and/or Water Engineering or higher university/postgraduate
Other certificates related to public health and/or communication and training will be an asset.
Experience of 2-3 years in field of civil construction and water infrastructure engineering, at least 1-2 years in WASH sector.
Working ability with tight deadlines and in a fast growing/changing program environment.
Commitment to working through systems of community participation and accountability
Computer literate, knowledge and experience of working on Auto CAD, EPANET, Google Earth Pro, Ms. Excel, word, Power point.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong knowledge and skills as well as practical experience of using civil engineering tools such Surveying
Basic skills in Electro-mechanic that helps you in managing water supply systems.
