Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Program Manager based in or around Nairobi, Kenya, to lead the comprehensive management of multiple global projects and our national office. In this pivotal role, you will become part of the leadership team providing strategic project management which drives our mission to deliver transformative high quality gender equality and diversity solutions on time, within the expected budget. People, money and risk management will be key enablers of success. Gender integration experience and/or interest will be an added advantage.

 

Key Impact Areas:

  • Strategic Program Leadership: Direct the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects and coordinating them as a program portfolio. Working with major global programs, ensuring cohesion with strategic objectives and alignment with global standards.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships as the primary liaison with partners, clients, and program participants, fostering collaboration, coordination and communication.
  • Team Leadership and Growth: Mentor, coach and grow a team of technical experts and associates, elevating their capabilities to meet and exceed industry standards whilst enabling their delivery on projects.
  • Integrated Financial Oversight: Embed financial management within the program framework, expertly guiding project budget preparation, tracking expenses, and delivering insightful financial analysis and reporting across projects.
  • Recruitment and Procurement: Integrate recruitment and procurement management into program activities, ensuring cost-effective staffing of projects and purchasing in compliance with organizational guidelines to boost program portfolio efficiency.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth functioning of day-to-day operations of projects through effective resource allocation, policy compliance, streamlined communication and internal workflow management.

Your Experience and Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, International Development, or related field.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in project and program management, demonstrating expertise in managing complex projects within a global or regional consulting or technical assistance environment.
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills, adept at balancing multiple priorities and delivering impactful results.
  • Proven ability to manage people, integrate financial and procurement management into program strategies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (excel, powerpoint, word +)and project management tools as well as software
  • Experience in budget management and financial reporting related to projects.
  • A global perspective with enthusiasm for working in diverse international teams and projects.
  • Proficiency in English and excellent business writing skills. Additional local and international languages
