About the Organization:
The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and its local implementation partner, EASVRM, aim to improve livelihoods and access to services in rural Africa through innovative solutions in clean mobility, off-grid power, and digital technologies. Our pilot project, based in Kisii, Narok, Bomet and Nyamira Counties, focuses on leveraging these resources to foster sustainable development and gender parity in agricultural communities.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Finance Department. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial operations, supporting the development of interventions, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, creativity, and business acumen to support local and international teams and improve EASVRM’s financial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Management: Prepare asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing operational data.
- Ledger Maintenance: Conduct general-ledger account reconciliations, verify data accuracy, and identify and correct discrepancies.
- Transaction Documentation: Record all financial transactions in ERPNext, ensuring supporting documentation for all entries.
- Bank Reconciliations: Examine and reconcile bank statements weekly with general ledger entries.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Monitor incoming and outgoing payments, create purchase and sales invoices, and ensure proper coding and documentation.
- Tax Compliance: Compute taxes and ensure timely payment of all statutory obligations.
- Financial Reporting: Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and operational management accounts.
- Special Reports: Prepare financial reports as requested by senior management, analyzing trends and summarizing data.
- Internal Controls: Help develop and document accounting policies and business processes to strengthen internal controls.
- Procurement & Administration: Provide technical support to the Finance and Administration Manager with procurement and administrative tasks.
- Discrepancy Management: Identify and escalate financial discrepancies to maintain institutional integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in ERP systems, ERPNext, advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
- Strong understanding of general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.
- Experience with accounts payable/receivable, tax compliance, and bank reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with financial operations in agricultural or rural development projects.
- Knowledge of international and local accounting standards.
- Experience in supporting procurement and administrative tasks.
