We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team in Kenya. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

 

The Bookkeeper will play a crucial role in the financial management of our organization.

 

Working Hours: Part-Time (Mon – Tue)

Salary expectations: Ksh20,000 Monthly + other benefits

Office Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Main activities and responsibilities

· Processing payments, invoices, income, and receipts, and inputting data into accounting software Xero or databases Monday.com and Excel.

· Organizing and maintaining paperwork.

· Reconciling bank and credit card statements.

· Recording and extracting local taxes (Nigerian) payable or refundable – VAT returns, Withholding Taxes etc.

· Ensuring the accuracy of business accounts and notifying the accountant / accounts supervisor of any discrepancies.

· Documenting inconsistencies to aid Accountants in reconciling inaccuracies.

· Generating monthly management accounts including, but not limited to income statements, balance sheets, accounts payable and accounts receivable reports, various analysis for sales, COS, OHs etc.

· Managing employee payroll.

· Administering employee expense claims.

· Assisting Accountants with administrative tasks and preparing annual accounts.

· Analyzing and generating reports for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.

· Proficiency in Excel and Xero.

· Knowledge of Pensions is advantageous.

· Handling accruals and prepayments.

· Conducting Balance Sheet reconciliations.

· Promptly responding to emails.

. Liaising with the local accounting firm and providing them any information for filing taxes and year end reports to the local authorities

Person Specification

● Qualified by experience (QBE) in accounts, finance, bookkeeping or a related field.

● A minimum of 3 years of experience in Bookkeeping or related field.

● Use of Xero – 3 years requirement

● Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or similar role.

● Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.

● Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

● Excellent organizational and time management skills.

● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

● Ability to work independently and collaborate with a team.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

● Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

● Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

● Familiarity with payroll processing and tax regulations.

● Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.

● Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information.

Able to demonstrate:

● A high degree of self-motivation with the ability to work independently, take effective decisions, resolve unforeseen problems and adapt to changing circumstances.

● Ability to work under pressure, prioritizing own workload and that of the team and planning ahead to meet deadlines.

● An understanding of information governance and data protection.

 

Special requirements

Able to undertake duties at different premises. Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours to effectively support the company’s operations and events.

Travel may be required in order to attend conferences, events, new projects and effectively represent the Company in key networks.
