Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee, train, guide and mentor a team of data scientists, analysts, engineers and group resources in the development of data skills and prepare them to take up various roles in data science, analysis, visualization and engineering. This includes fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment by ensuring data modelling and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning capabilities are propagated across the Group.
- Execute the Group’s data strategy, aligning it with overall business objectives by identifying opportunities to leverage data to drive business growth, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks.
- Develop Machine Learning/AI models for the Group that drive revenue, customer experience and cost optimization metrics in collaboration with colleagues both in business and support units.
- Manage the overall development and deployment of Data Science models that provide actionable insights/business recommendations including ensuring the accuracy, reliability and scalability of all data models deployed within the Group subsidiaries.
- In collaboration with business users, support implementation of foundational data management capabilities which include but are not limited to data quality, master data management, metadata management, data architecture, data privacy and security
- Oversee implementation of model governance processes and policies that ensure the integrity, reliability, and ethical use of machine learning/AI models throughout their lifecycle including ensuring implementation of data governance standards and policies in so far as model development and deployment is concerned.
- Ensure data quality, integrity and security principles are adhered to in model development.
- Collaborate with business units/tribes and technology teams to understand and prioritize group needs and drive creation of data solutions based on business use cases in line with the Group’s strategy.
Postion requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Business/Economics/Statistics/ Actuarial Science/ Computer Science or equivalent education from a recognized institution.
- At least 6 years data science working experience.
- Proficiency in SQL (Oracle PL/SQL), Python, Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning Techniques.
- Proficiency in Data Visualization in either of Oracle OBIEE, Power BI, Tableau, Click View.
- Broad understanding of latest Data Science, Analytics and Technology trends and their impact on business strategies and operations
- Experience in Machine learning algorithms and techniques like supervised and unsupervised machine learning, clustering, neural networks, reinforcement learning, decision trees, regression, generative AI, and adversarial learning.
- Extensive data science experience utilizing common data science tools and languages such as Python, Power BI (data visualization) in manipulating data and drawing insights from large data sets.
- Expertise in querying and extracting large datasets from various sources (Relational Databases, text and pdf files, websites etc.; experience in Oracle PL/SQL is an added advantage) as well as visualizing/presenting data as actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Experience implementing Banking/Financial data science use cases and knowledge of banking products.
- Good understanding of Enterprise Data Management capabilities particularly Data Governance concepts and Data Privacy Laws.
- Good understanding of big data technologies and capabilities that come with modern data platforms.
