The National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) was established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is made up of a Council as its governing Body, a Secretariat for its daily operations, and 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARis) under its policy guidance. Job Purpose: To assist the Director of Internal Audit in preparing and implementing a Risk Based Audit plan to assess, report on and make recommendations for improving the NARO’s controls, risk management and governance process (GRC)

Academic Qualifications and Experience

(i) An Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Accounting, or Commerce or Business Administration with a bias in accounting, plus a Professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognised awarding Institution. OR Professional qualification in Accountancy obtained from a recognised awarding Institution accredited by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) plus a post-graduate diploma in management-related field obtained from a recognised institution.

(ii) Master’s Degree in Financial Management /Accountancy / Business Administration obtained from a recognised accredited awarding institution.

(iii) Must be a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and the Institute of Internal Auditors (IA-Uganda).

(iv) A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience gained from large reputable organisations or government ministries, departments or agencies (MDAs), or reputable organisations, at least three of which must have been obtained at the senior officer level.

(v) Comprehensive knowledge of the IPPF and Internal Audit Standards (Global Internal Audit standards).

(vi) Advanced computer skills in MS Office, IFMS, auditing and accounting software.
