Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is an internationally recognized grassroots organization that unlocks the potential of urban slum dwellers to lead hopeful and fulfilling lives. Job Overview
Reporting to the Accountant, the individual will be responsible for carrying out financial and accounting processes, in compliance with financial policies, procedures and controls systems.

Reports to – Accountant
Travel Required – When advised or necessary
Terms – 2-year contract, renewable on performance
Work Pattern/Hours – As per the Sacco’s HR Policy. Full time
Key Responsibilities / Duties/ Tasks
Responsibilities
- Reconciliation of all bank statements
- Reconciliations of Mpesa and pay bills transactions.
- Production of schedules for shares, deposits, and loans
- Variance analysis and reporting for follow up and actions
- Weekly and monthly reports to the Accountant/Chief Accountant
- Performs any other duty assigned by Accountant
- Posting of refunds, rental income, and journals
- Maintain files for external member correspondences
- Posting of Check-offs, and external member Salary receipts
- Filing of documents statutory deductions such NSSF and NHIF
- Verifying and reconciling petty cash claims to ensure correct usage, accountability, and accurate reimbursement
- Processing of payment vouchers and other payments
- Safe custody of bank statements
- Posting of external standing orders to members’ personal accounts
- Maintain standing order register
- Performs any other duty assigned by Accountant

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or its equivalent.
- CPA (K) and a registered member of ICPAK in good standing.
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience and in a similar position
- A member of a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
